Bounty Hunters/Mercenaries Edit

Continuing the discussion on Category talk:Mercenary...

Mercs' aren't defined by the Warcraft RPG books (or at least, WoWWiki doesn't list them as a prestige class and it's always on top of the RPG side of things), and it makes sense that any class can also be a merc (soldier for hire, mage for hire, etc). And isn't Bounty Hunter an interchangeable term for Mercenary?

So maybe the solution would be to merge the Bounty Hunter and Mercenary categories to allow characters who identify as one of the two to keep themselves together, but take them off of this page and the template? They could be replaced by classes like Witch Doctor, Runemaster(?), and other true prestige classes? Tarianpip Tarian [T | C] 21:23, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

I think you might be right about the Mercenary thing. It's more of a profession, rather than an actual class. It has more to do with how you work, rather than your particular abilities. However, I think Bounty Hunter and Mecenary are slightly different things. A Bounty Hunter is one who hunts anyone on whom there is a bounty. A Mercenary works for someone in exchange for payment, on a basis of pay per job completed rather than a fixed salary. I think. --Admin Richeron [T | C] 13:22, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Fair enough, but the term Bounty Hunter refers to how someone works rather than their abilities, just like Mercenary, surely? Tarianpip Tarian [T | C] 02:41, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

I guess so. -- Richeron
