Tall and sturdily built, Harry does not seem like the man you'd easily knock about. He has an upright posture, carrying himself in the dignified manner of a military man.
His eyes lay deep beneath the stern, bushy eyebrows, and his face is framed by a neatly combed mane of blonde hair and sideburns.
His facial expressions are severely understated.
His boots and weapons are nearly always polished and shiny. Exceptions would be whilst in the heat of battle.

Personality and background[]
It isn't that Harry is unfriendly, truly. Nor is it so that he does not care for anything. In fact, Harry cares very much for very many things. But he is one big knot of unresolved emotions and issues, and he'd much rather chew off his arm than tell you about his feelings.
To understand Harry, you really need to know two key factors about him:
1) He is gay, and he knows it, in a world where (at least the way I imagine Gilneas) a sexuality deviating from the considered norm is in no way a thing to advertize.
2) He is the youngest of seven brothers.
He is hence under the impression that his sexual preferences are very much a weakness within him. Only his immense mental strength (and a tendency to distract his mind through physical exercise such as running or lifting weights) keeps him from giving in to his desires, thus leaving him (almost) the "40-year old virgin".
Though a quiet man by nature, he always felt he had to live up to the image of being a "proper man" that his brothers were putting forth. Doubly so, as he did not consider himself a "proper man" at all. Joining the military seemed sufficiently manly to prove his worth to his family, and more importantly: himself.
The silence that made him such an awkward child and teen, seems in his middle age to have become one of the factors that commands other people's respect.

The Thatch family are a common as muck Gilnean family, and as the name suggests has harboured a long line of thatchers throughout the ages.
Relations worth mentioning[]
Fitzwilliam Mistmoore the Third, Captain of the Intel Division of the First Gilnean Regiment , is not only Harry's soldier buddy from way back, but also his only true friend and long time target of what can only be described as a hopelessly one-sided love.
Catherine Mistmoore, Fitzwilliam's daughter, is also very dear to his heart. They consider each other uncle and niece respectively.
