The Society of Arcanists is a group of Mages, based around the principle that arcane magic and knowledge should be accessible and beneficial to all. The Society offers a place to work and learn for Mages of all skill levels and experience, collects knowledge from around the world on matters of the arcane and offers magical services like enchanting and magical alchemy to those willing to offer support or monetary donation.

Background

Formed by Mallisyra Hawthorn, herself a talented student of the Academy of Arcane Arts and Sciences, in Stormwind, The Society of Arcanists does not have a long or illustrious history as other magical organisations might do. Instead, it boasts high aspirations and an idealogy unseen in many such other schools. The members of the Society believe that knowledge of the Arcane should be collected and shared, not something to be hidden away in stuff libraries and accessible only to the most studious of scholars. While scholarly aptitude and intelligence are essential to gain membership to the Society and its School, an emphasis is put on practical

application and physical learning rather than theoretical study.

Members go on frequent expeditions to places of magical importance, attend lectures and lessons, and provide magical services to the wider community.

Recently bestowed new powers and responsibilities, the Society is officially considered as a Magical School by the Crown and Kingdom of Stormwind; the casual group of friends has evolved into a more structured and official Academy.
