Name[]

Huntress Vashtioriona Ravenleaf FeralClaw

Physical Traits[]

Vashtioriona is still very young for a Nightelf mortal, her years number 113 so although mature enough to leave her tribe if she so chooses, she has very little life experience compared to other Nightelves, and due to her unorthodox place of birth and the general influences during what were her formative years she has some strange eccentricities that may turn out to be either blessing or curse, depending on what experiences shape her life now. Her world up to this point has been very limited, and she knows very little of supposed civilisation.

Physical And Personal Traits Vashtioriona is of average height for a Nightelf, with pale moon like skin, and long black hair, that shines with green and blue highlights like the wing of a raven. She has the dark face markings of her tribe earned via a coming of age ritual, however she is just taking her first tentative steps out of pack life so is still considered very much a “cub” in the eyes of her tribe.

She dressed in the leathers, furs and skins of her tribe, but is already at this early stage experimenting with the more feminine items of civilisations, (cloth robes and dresses that are purely for decoration), something considered unnecessary and frivolous in her upbringing. Skins being used as protection and camouflage rather than modesty. Although taught the bow at a very early age, she now uses a gun, something quite alien to her tribe, but something that they have had to embrace out of need due to dwindling tribe numbers, and the growing numbers of explorers, interlopers and raiding parties that stumble into, or attack their settlements.

Vash is pretty feral and wild, and much more at home with her beloved animals and birds, but is trying to fight it and fit in to a world of her choosing, not one that is not forced upon her by an accident of birth. For these reason her communications are awkward, almost like she has read the book on how to do this, but understands neither the thoughts behind such concepts of politeness and communication. However knowing from her short time in the world already that growling, snarling, and generally yelling “Mine Mine” over your food or possessions doesn’t work and is not acceptable and in order to get on in such civilised setting communication is a must. For this reason social interaction tends to be very stilted and almost too formal and polite, at least for now.

Occupation And Passions[]

Vash loves all forms of animals, and although a gifted Hunter, knows that animals in all forms are a bounty of Lady Moon and are to be respected and honoured. Her pets are they combat, companion or mounts are treated impeccably and often much loved. With animals her awkwardness fades away and due to tribe life she has a much better understanding than many more civilised night elves.

Her excitement at seeing more exotic and strange animals sometimes overrides her shyness and caution, and the few favourable interactions she has had so far have been because of a animal specimen that she was eager to investigate.

Vash has an uncharacteristic passion for rocks and minerals, and is pretty much a base component of her personality and the drive behind her needing to leave the tribe, her love of all things natural, be it animal, plant, and mineral but also an insatiable appetite and curiosity for knowledge the world and new experience. She just doesn’t have the social abilities just yet to feel entirely comfortable and at home there.

Family[]

Vash is an only child, Nightelf cubs being a bit of a rarity in the FeralClaw tribe and only occurring at the time of an “optimal” mating, lifemates may only have one “cub” per lifetime if they are very lucky, so numbers of the tribe are dwindling not just due to the lack of new births but also that younger elves leaving to see the world is steadily increasing.

Her father Razorleaf was a gifted Hunter and animal skinner of the tribe, and his snaring, concealment and animal husbandry skills were rivalled by none, although not someone of great import in the tribe, his rudimentary veterinary skills were much sought, and his gift with animals greatly helped the tribe.

Razorleaf however did not seem to have much interest in the maidens of the tribe and instead fell in love with Ravendark a healer from one of the more civilised settlements of Ashenvale, whose sultry exotic looks he coveted. After what was a stormy and tumultuous courtship not helped at all by their very different ways of life. Ravendark eventually agreed to embrace the feralclaw way of life to be with the man she loved, and after many years their union was gifted with Vash.

Razorleaf was a quiet and thoughtful man not moved to quick temper and changeable moods by anybody but his lifemate Raven. Ravendark herself is always quick to temper and her beauty is only ever matched by her innate ferocity and wildness that was brought to the fore in her new way of life. Although the tribe were openly suspicious of the new member, they soon were won over by her dedication to their way of life and her excellent healing abilities and plant knowledge.

Razorleaf was killed in the battle of Mount Hyjal when he answered the call to arms; many tribe members lost their mates in this bloody battle to try to protect not just their way of life, but others of their race too.

Raven remains in the FeralClaw tribe and although has many offers to share the sleeping skins, remains true to her beloved husband, and shows no sign of returning to the way of life she knew before.

Family Background[]

FeralClaw is a self made tribe of what started as Neutral/Adventurer Nightelves possibly a guild of druids and hunters that decided to turn their back on the comforts of civilisation and technology and decided to go back to nature in a more literal sense. They have been established for at least 500 years but due to their embracing of the more natural and feral way of life, they are openly derisive of record keeping and book learning instead adopting a more handed down of life skills and knowledge approach.

FeralClaws are named after the GhostPaw Howlers that inhabit their environment, and the tribe from the beginning started to bond very closely to the mammals and birds of the Ashenvale, but more noteably to the wolfpacks. These are the FeralClaw tribes constant guardians, companions and friends. And all members are bonded closely to one particular wolf cub that they are presented when they reach the coming of age ritual. Vash has only just received her wolf cub 2 years ago, so he has the same inexperience and immaturity that she herself has.

They refer to their members as “The Pack” and among there skills are excellent hunting, skinning and survival skills, they also have amazing camouflage and blending skills and for this reason very rarely get attacked or discovered. However anyone who does manage to get too close to them either meets an untimely death (enemies) or is knocked out, bound and delivered back outside a suitable settlement.

Personal Notes[]

OOC: I decided that because for some reason that Nightelves remind me so much of the wolfriders of Richard and Wendy Pinni that I wanted my character to be very much based on a similar culture. However after reading the excellent guides on the Blizzard SWC forum there didn’t seem to be a way to achieve this. I did think about rerolling something else I fancied playing, but DARN IT!!! I wanted to play a wolfrider. So I thought okay…..I’ll INVENT them mwahahahahahahhaha!!

Hopefully I have not just slotted something totally alien into the world just to satisfy my own greedy black heart and have been sympathetic and mindful of the history already established. But RP is all about having fun so I thought what the heck!!.

I was also tempted to make her daughter of the chief…yaddayadda but then decided, no actually some of the best and more interesting characters come from a little place you have probably never heard of, and lead up to a certain point unremarkable little lives…. it’s what makes what transpires so bloody interesting!!!
